If you are looking for books, we really recommend the Eslite Xinyi Store. It’s a very big bookstore with a wide range of different kinds of books, from magazines and comics, travel and cooking books to literature in all different genres. Whatever you search for, you can most likely find it here. And whenever you want it, you can find it here! Because this bookstore is open 24 hours, so at any time of the day or night you can let yourself get stuck in the world of books without thinking about the time.
How to get there: from Beimen Wow Poshtel you take the blue line from Taipei Main Station for Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, ride for 6 stations and get off at Taipei City Hall Station exit 2 and then it’s right behind the buildings you will see in front of you when you exit.
On the 2nd floor of the mall you can find lots of magazines, not only in Chinese and English but also some in Spanish and German. At the same floor they also have different smaller stores specialized in different book- or stationary related things like for example a store focused on fountain pens and accessories for writing.
On the 3rd floor they have the main bookstore, with different sections. They have a whole section for English books, on two different sides next to each other, one categorized in genres such as thriller and horror fiction, science fiction and fantasy, and next to it another section categorized as world literature, like American and European literature. The Eslite Xinyi Store has the biggest section of English books we have seen in a bookstore here in Asia, so if you are interested in books but can’t read in Chinese we really recommend this one.
