Ba Fang Dumpling is a Taiwanese restaurant chain that offers soups, fried and boiled dumplings. Their nearest restaurant is just a five minute walk from Beimen WOW poshtel and even closer to Taipei Main Station. It lies on the busy Section 1, Chengde Road, on the opposite side of the Q Square mall. The restaurant is open every day from 10am to 9pm, and offer both takeaway and in-house seating. If you choose to sit there, you just go in and take a table after you ordered, and wait at the table for them to bring the food to you. There are chopsticks and sauce (and plate for the sauce) for you to take there.

It’s not a vegetarian restaurant but it has some vegetarian options, for example vegetable dumplings, either pan-fried or boiled. The vegetable dumpling is marked with green colour to show that it’s vegetarian, so it’s easy to see even on the Chinese menu that’s in front of the cashier, even though they often will give you a English menu when they see you. There is also a menu on the wall over the cashier which is written in both Chinese and English.

The vegetable dumplings cost NTD $6 per dumpling, so this plate with 10 dumplings was only NTD $60. It’s very cheap and convenient, and tasty! It’s a popular restaurant, so you might have to wait a bit for your dumplings since they are pan-fried or boiled right when you order them, but the wait is not long at all. We maybe waited for about ten minutes for our dumplings. If you want a easy and fast meal that’s very close to the hostel, or if you are a group of friends with both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, or just want some tasty well-made dumplings, then this is the perfect place for you!
